Skive ferrules need the outer cover (and sometimes inner layer) of the hose removed before crimping, and are used on heavy duty 4 wire hose. Non skive ferrules crimp straight over the cover and are used on most 1 and 2 wire hose. We match the ferrule to the hose for you.
